Terrain Mapping benchmark with OpenDroneMap
If you have an interest in drone mapping and terrain analysis, you’ll want to check out this exercise that compares the functionality of OpenDroneMap tools. OpenDroneMap is a cost-effective and open-source tool that can process images from various drone cameras and sensors, producing highly accurate 3D models and maps. With its customizable nature and large open-source community, it is a popular choice for terrain mapping. In this benchmark exercise, we test the tool’s processes using both CPU and GPU on the same set of images, captured with a DJI Mini 2 and processed with DroneLink app. However, there are some restrictions, and the project folders and image locations must be on an external SSD hard drive to prevent disk overload. The entire process is recorded in a 4k screen capture video for both CPU and GPU. For more information and the code used in this exercise, be sure to check out the article.

Bienvenidos al bis del tercer episodio comparativo entre cámaras 360, también conocido como 4º y último episodio. Siguiendo la secuencia de trabajo presentada en el anterior post relativo a la compartiva sistemática entre las cámaras 360 Insta360 X2 y la Ricoh Theta X, se muestra a continuación una comparativa similar en otra localización. En este caso, se trata del espigón de Caranza - Ferrol. Se compararán en este caso también, el nivel de detalle, cosido y nitidez alcanzable por cada cámara.
Lectura y procesamiento de datos .nc con R
En este caso vamos a descargar un par de fuentes de interés y cruzar los datos, así de rápido, con el único propósito de aprender y prácticar. Vamos a manejar los datos de potencial eólico descargados en el post anterior y que pueden servirnos para hacer grandes cosas. Vamos a utilziar tres fuentes en este post:

En este caso, se trata del puerto deportivo de Ferrol. Se compararán en este caso también, el nivel de detalle, cosido y nitidez alcanzable por cada cámara.
Guía de Uso del Potencial Eólico (NEWA)
La localización de un parque eólico o una simple turbina depende de multiples factores como la accesibilidad, la oucpación territorial de las viviendas y sobre todo, el potencial eólico. Existe en la actualidad un proyecto europeo en el que se ofrece la descarga de este cálculo respecto a todo el territorio, a distintas resoluciones y para distintas alturas de cálculo. Esta es la web del proyecto donde se pueden visualizar y descargar estos datos. Este atlas no es algo menor y requiere de gran capacidad computacional. De hecho, por qué no sentirnos orgullosos, pues el cálculo se ha realizado con el MareNostrum del Centro de Supercomputación de Barcelona.

Siguiendo la secuencia de trabajo presentada en el anterior post relativo a la compartiva sistemática entre las cámaras 360 Insta360 X2 y la Ricoh Theta X, se muestra a continuación una comparativa similar en otra localización. En este caso, se trata de un puente elevado frente a la ensenada de A Malta (Ferrol). Se compararán en este caso también, el nivel de detalle, cosido y nitidez alcanzable por cada cámara.

Esta entrada del blog tiene por objeto establecer una comparativa, relativamente sistemática, entre dos cámaras 360 de uso actual. La Insta360 X2 y la Ricoh Theta X. Las carácterísticas de cada cámara están desarrolladas en multitud de lugares y comparativas de youtube. En este caso, lo que se pretende el comparar es el nivel de detalle y nitidez alcanzable por cada cámara.
Splitting a Polygon into Quadrants
This is the QUESTION IN GIS STACK EXCHANGE that it is not totally solved in our favorite forum. The aim is to create a sub-grid of 2x2, 4x4, etc within each polygon. This can be used recursively in case more sub-grids are needed. The goal is not to create a new grid but to adapt a sub-grid to the boundaries of the original polygons.
